Air Atlantique's passenger and freight C-47, G-AMRA was built in 1944 and joined the USAF as 43-49474. She was transferred to the RAF on lend-lease and used in the Berlin Airlift. She later flew with many airlines until joining Air Atlantique in 1981. G-AMRA has spent her life with Air Atlantique transporting all manner of different loads such as fresh fish, mail, car spares, oil rig equipment, aircraft engines and is configured once a year to drop one million poppies over the Remembrance Day commemorations at Coventry.

Douglas DC-3

Designed to meet an American Airlines requirement for an enlarged version of the DC-2, the DC-3 was first flown on December 17th, 1935. Capable of carrying 24 passengers at a cruising speed of 180 mph, the DC-3's speed and long range revolutionized commercial air travel in the 1930s and 40s, when it carried 90 percent of the world's air travelers. Early DC-3s used Wright R-1820 Cyclone engines, but Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp Radials were fitted to later versions; these engines had better single engine performance and allowed the DC-3 to fly at higher altitudes.

Corgi's 1:144 scale DC-3/C-47 series includes both military transports and iconic passenger airliners (air stairs included with some releases). These models are constructed almost entirely of diecast metal with only the smallest amount of plastic used, a quality shared by most of Corgi's 1:144 scale aircraft. The pad-printed windows and doors on each models' fuselage provide a seamless touch that does not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The tail and wing with integrated engine nacelles are solid diecast metal. Radial engine detail is present inside the engine nacelles behind the thinly stamped all-metal propellers.
