In 1975 the 125th FG Florida ANG (FLANG) converted from the F-102 to the F-106 Delta Dart. One of the new aircraft had tail number 8076 so when the U.S. 1976 Bicentennial approached the unit decided to give 8076 a special red, white and blue tribute paint scheme along with the “City of Jacksonville” painted on the fuselage. This paint scheme received a lot of national and international attention in aviation magazines. The aircraft wore this scheme for the entire year and took part in every bicentennial celebration in Jacksonville.
Designed as a refinement of the F102, the F106 was first flown on December 26th, 1956. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Hobby Master's 1:72 scale F-106 Delta Dart is a fast-looking model, skillfully designed using modern manufacturing techniques with the inclusion of many fine features. The hinged, sharply-angled canopy opens to reveal pad-printed front and side instrument panels. The landing gear and gear doors are constructed as subassemblies allowing quick and easy configuration for ground or in-flight display. The solid metal wing is masterfully recreated with downturned leading edges and two removable streamlined supersonic fuel tanks. The weapons bay is constructed as a one-piece subassembly, with four Falcon missiles featuring finely detailed trapeze mounts.
