The 11th Panzer Division was formed on August 1st, 1940. In February 1941 the 11 Pz.Div. was making its way through Romania and in March they moved into Bulgaria. Their first real action came in April 1941 in Yugoslavia when they helped in the capture of Belgrade. The division participated in the Battle of Kiev from July (according to Soviet records) until September 26, 1941. They took part in the March to Moscow from late 1941 into early 1942. The last member of the 11th Pz.Div. was captured May 4, 1945.
Designed as a prime-mover for medium towed guns, the Sd.Kfz.11 entered production in 1937. By German standards, the Sd.Kfz.11 was a relatively small half-track, weighing in at 16,000lbs and approximately 18 feet in length. It proved extremely versatile on the battlefield though, and was capable of carrying up to eight troops while towing a trailer or gun (typically anti-tank or anti-aircraft guns). In total more than 9,000 examples were produced, although the same chassis and drivetrain formed the basis of more than 15,000 Sd.Kfz.251 armored personnel carriers that were also produced. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Sd.kfz.11 half-track has a plastic body that allows for accurate replication of details, and a diecast metal chassis that provides weight and feel. The body features a crystal clear windshield with separately applied headlamps up front and fine scale rivet details at the rear. With both the front and rear rag-tops in the down configuration, a clear view of the half-track's interior is provided, including a pad-printed instrument panel, a complete set of driver's controls, and simulated front and rear leather covered bench seats. The model's simulated torsion-bar suspension of its six interlaced road wheels is visible on the underside.
