Corgi Aviation Archive Collector Series AA32510
Ju 87B Stuka Diecast Model
Luftwaffe 4./StG, Tmimi, Cyrenaica, 1941
Limited Edition

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Junkers Ju 87B Stuka   6.25"   7.5"

This Junkers Ju-87B-2 flew with probably the best known of all the Stuka units, 4/StG 2 Immelmann and appeared like this in 1941 at the opening of the African campaign after the capture of Crete. At that time the unit was based at Tmimi, Cryenaica. The colour scheme is 78/79/80, respectively, light blue undersides and sand yellow and olive green upper surfaces and the theatre band is quite unusually aligned with the fuselage Balkenkreuz national marking. The white spinner tip is reportedly a staffel-within-Gruppe recognition aid. Also, unusually, this aircraft carries both the original 4.Staffel four-leaf clover badge and the new emblem of a Luftwaffe eagle superimposed on the afrika Korps’ palm tree and swastika insignia that was to replace it. In those early months in the desert the Bf 109 escorted Stuka was a formidable weapon. Two main types of mission were carried out by the Stukas during this period in early 1941 – against the enemy’s ground forces and against British coastal shipping and this is where StG 2 came into its own.
