L-1049H Super Constellation N7131C (c/n 4828) was delivered new to National Airlines on 11 September, 1957 and served the airline well, until it was withdrawn from use at Miami in 1963. The following year it was bought by Nordair of Canada, becoming CF-NAK, following which it flew relief flights with Canairelief Air Ltd from December 1968, until it crashed whilst landing at Uli airstrip, Biafra on 3 August 1969.
Designed as a stretched version of the successful Constellation design, the Super Constellation was first flown on October 13th, 1950. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Corgi's 1:144 scale Constellations and Super Connstellations are solidly constructed of diecast metal with only the smallest amount of plastic used. The model's dolphin shaped fuselage and beautifully sculpted nose feature pad-printed windows and doors that do not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. On most models, the solid metal wing has external wing-tip fuel tanks (see photos), a hint of engine detail behind the propellers and simulated de-icing boots on the leading edge. Configuration for ground display is easy with landing gear that installs quickly, and a multi-positional display stand is included for in flight display.
