Corgi Showcase Collection CS90361 P-51D Mustang Diecast Model USAAF 332nd FG, 100th FS Tuskegee Airmen, "Bunnie", Roscoe Brown, w/Nose Art Panel 1:120 Scale     Length     Width North American P-51D Mustang     3.25"     3.75" Named after the daughter of its pilot, Capt Roscoe Brown, this aircraft has often been incorrectly assigned to 332nd FG boss Col Benjamin 0 Davis in the past due to the fighter being used in a publicity shot ostensibly featuring the Mustangs flown by the COs of all four Fifteenth Air Force P-51 groups. Brown claimed two aerial victories during his combat tour in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations, one of which was a rare Messerschmitt Me 262 jet fighter. During WW2, young airmen separated from home, family, loved ones and a familiar way of life often sought ways of escaping the harsh reality of war by personalising their aircraft with what has become known as nose art. Humour, slogans, nicknames, cartoons, girls; all were used to bring a touch of light relief to their deadly day-to-day existence.
