Corgi Forward March US59003 Figure US Army Infantry, D-Day, June 6th 1944 6-Piece Set |
The American Army, which stormed on to the shores and plummeted from the skies of Normandy, France in the early hours of June 6, 1944 was the most formidable fighting force ever fielded to that date. The US Infantry was the backbone of this force and for the next eleven months it continuously engaged and defeated the veteran German defenders. When fuel shortages stalled tanks and bad weather grounded the Allied Air Forces, these well equipped foot soldiers continued to fight. These foot soldiers were the only carrier of weapons who in theory were never exhausted, could always go another mile, and could be counted to move across any terrain, bringing war to the heart of Germany.
These figures are made to go with the existing range of World War II Corgi vehicles.
The Corgi "Forward March" range presents highly-detailed, ready-made spin-cast figures in 1:32 (54mm) and 1:50 (36mm) scale. Over the last 50 years Corgi has earned a reputation as one of the finest producers of highly detailed, die-cast, historically accurate vehicle and aircraft models. These same values and principles have now been applied to a brand new range of hand-painted, spin-cast metal miniature figurines - the FORWARD MARCH collection. Our same commitment to quality and authenticity shines through in every figure - from aviators to World War II infantry and elite forces, these figures capture the essence of the period down to the buttons on the tunics and the look of confidence and resignation in their detailed faces! Many of these figures are the perfect compliment to existing Corgi military and aviation collections - what better way to bring additional life to your existing collection than by creating your own custom-made vignette with vehicles and figures.
