In the summer of 1940, the German Whermacht were the only undisputed masters of Europe. Now only Great Britain stood in her way... In preparation for an invasion of Great Britain, Germany had to have air supremacy and an all out aerial campaign to destroy the RAF was ordered. From July to October of 1940, the small RAF Fighter Command fought the German onslaught in what would become to be known as 'The Battle of Britain'. The young RAF pilots whom Churchill called, "The Few" thwarted Hitler's preparation for the invasion of England but not without loss. RAF Fighter Command losses from July to October were 481 killed or missing, and 422 wounded or injured.
