The A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-based subsonic light attack aircraft design that was introduced to replace the A-4 Skyhawk in US Naval service and based on the successful supersonic F-8 Crusader.
Limited Edition of 1500 pieces worldwide.
Designed to replace the US Navy’s A-4 Skyhawk, the A7 was first flown on September 27th, 1965 and is one of only a few US Navy aircraft that are also operated by the US Air Force. The A-7’s configuration is characterized by a turbofan engine, high wing, low horizontal tail, large chin inlet and short landing-gear legs that retract into the fuselage. Often called the SLUFF (short little ugly fat fellow) the A-7 is a sophisticated, integrated, highly versatile airborne weapon system capable of performing a variety of search, surveillance and attack missions.© Copyright 2003-2010 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Century Wings’ 1:144 A-7 Corsair II is constructed almost entirely of diecast metal, a feature uncommon in this scale. The wings include details such as the "dog-tooth" leading edge and beautifully rendered hinges. The canopy has forward tinting and is removable for easy viewing of the cockpit. The thin metal horizontal stabilizers rotate freely in unison, and there is a full complement of detailed weapons ordinances and external fuel tanks on the underside. Models in this series feature landing gear and doors fixed in the down position for easy display. A simulated carrier deck with acrylic cover is included to showcase the model and removable pilot figures.
