The Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor was a German all-metal four-engine monoplane originally developed by Focke-Wulf as a long-range airliner. A Japanese request for a long-range maritime patrol aircraft led to an upgraded design that would see service with the Luftwaffe as a long-range reconnaissance and anti-shipping/maritime patrol bomber aircraft, as well as a transport aircraft for troops and VIPs. It achieved some success as a commerce raider before the advent of long-range RAF Coastal Command aircraft and CAM ships eliminated its threat.
Designed by Kurt Tank to meet a Deutsche Lufthansa requirement for a new airliner, the Condor was first flown July 27th, 1937. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
The De Agostini "1:144 Aircraft" range presents affordable, ready-made plastic models of military aircraft in 1:144 scale. These are very much "entry level" models, with less quality and detail than many other ranges. They are also packaged in unmarked styrofoam containers. Nevertheless, the low price and range of subjects does make this line attractive to collectors on a budget.
De Agostini display model airplanes feature:
- Molded plastic construction (some releases include diecast metal components).
- Realistic panel lines, antennas, access panels and surface details.
- Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals.
- Removeable extended landing gear but no closed gear doors.
- Presentation stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
