Grumman F-14B Tomcat Diecast Model
USN VF-11 Red Rippers, AG200, USS John F. Kennedy

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Grumman F-14B Tomcat   10.25"   10.75"

This F-14B model features the VF-11 Red Rippers serving aboard the carrier USS John F Kennedy. This scale model fighter is superbly detailed, with accurate dimensions and finely molded components. Its payload includes not only AIM-9L missiles, but also AIM-7s, making this a truly formidable piece of military hardware. This model aircraft features a wild boar caricature on the tail, and is resplendent in the colorful markings of VF-11.

To intercept and destroy enemy aircraft in all weather conditions, establish and maintain all local air superiority, and deliver ordnance on target, on time, first pass. This is the official mission of VF-11, the "Red Rippers" fighter squadron of the U.S. Navy. And what better way to carry out that mission than with the F-14 Tomcat? VF-11 was established as VF-43 on 1 September 1950, and redesignated VF-11 on 16 February 1959. VF-11 adopted the insignia used by the previous VF-11 which had been disestablished on 15 February 1959. The new VF-11 (redesignated from VF-43 on 16 Feb 1959) carried on the insignia and traditions of the old Red Ripper squadron but its lineage and history do not date back to the old VF-11.

Grumman F-14B Tomcat

Designed to carry the formidable long range AIM-54 Phoenix missile, the Grumman F-14 Tomcat was first flown on December 21st, 1970. Made famous by the Hollywood film Top Gun, the F-14 replaced the F-4 Phantom II as the US Navy’s primary maritime air superiority fighter. Its design includes a variable geometry wing that can sweep back for high speed supersonic intercepts and forward for improved positioning in air to air dogfights. Nicknamed “Bombcat,” the F-14 spent much of its late career in an air-to-ground role, carrying the Low Altitude Navigation and Targeting Infrared for Night (LANTIRN) system.
