This title showcases the unique 318th FIS "Green Dragon" markings. It features an ALL NEW ASAT missile. In the 1980s, the Reagan administration encouraged the USAF to develop countermeasures against Soviet reconnaissance satellites. This could be achieved by launching an ASAT (Anti-SATellite) missile against orbiting satellites – the only snag was that the missile could only be launched at an altitude of 80,000 ft! The F-15 was selected for this task, and the plan called for twenty fighters from the 318th and 48th FIS (Fighter Interceptor Squadrons) to be fitted out for this mission. Three or four Eagles from each squadron were in fact rewired to carry the ASAT missiles, and 318th FIS was quasi-operational. However, after nearly ten years of development, Congress scrapped the ASAT program in 1988.
