The superb Challenger 2 (CR2) is the British Army's Main Battle Tank. The CR2 is based on the Challenger 1 that served with distinction on operations in the Gulf War and the Balkans. Only 5 per cent of Challenger 2 components are interchangeable with its predecessor; over 150 major modifications include a completely new turret, L30 CHARM 120mm gun and second generation Chobham armour. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards were instrumental in capturing Basra in April of 2003. This highly detailed model features intricate camouflage markings and includes a sturdy display case!

Dragon's 1:72 scale Challenger 2 is constructed with an intelligent mix of diecast metal and plastic, with the entire hull and large low-profile turret in plastic for the highest possible detail. A discreet, internally-mounted weight gives the model its heft. The turret features an elevating cannon with muzzle reference sensor, smoke grenade launchers and a removable 7.62 machine gun with attached ammo box. The hull has upgraded armor side skirts, hand-painted headlights and fire extinguishers, separately-applied cabling on the sides and external fuel tanks mounted to the rear. The wheels feature simulated rubber tires and hexagonal shaped nuts and bolt ends, visible under close scrutiny.
