Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60591
Harland and Wolff Churchill Mk III Display Model
British Army 48th Royal Tank Rgt, "Sprinter IV", England, 1942

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Harland and Wolff Churchill Mk III   4"   1.5"

As part of its prodigious output of 1:72 scale toolings, Dragon Armor has issued a model of the Churchill Mk.III. This is Dragon Armor’s very first Churchill, and indeed it’s also the very first British-designed tank of WWII to feature in the series. To create this mark, the correct turret and auxiliary fuel tank are present. It’s finished in an unusual, but typical of the 1942 period, coat of khaki brown paint. This color was known officially as Standard Camouflage Colour 2 (S.C.C. No.2). This tank belonging to the 48th Royal Tank Regiment (48 RTR) carries the name "Sprinter IV" on both sides of the turret. For modelers wishing to strengthen their tank regiments and to get their hands on something British, this "outstandingly brown" Churchill is a must-have item!

Harland and Wolff Churchill Mk III

Designed as a heavy infantry tank to replace the Matilda II, the Churchill prototype was completed in June 1940 and the type entered production in June 1941. The design was largely influenced by the British Army's experiences with trench warfare during WWI. As a result, the Churchill was a large, heavy (38 tons), and relatively slow machine, built to traverse heavily cratered landscapes to take on lightly armored infantry. The small turret significantly restricted the size of armament that could be fitted to the Churchill but it's heavy armor made it much more resilient than contemporary allied tanks.

Dragon's 1:72 scale Churchill tanks have hulls and turrets constructed entirely of diecast plastic, allowing for the greatest possible details, such as rivet and bolt head details. Each release features a 360-degree rotating turret with delicate antenna and periscopes on top and a clear view of each of the models the twenty-two road wheels and coil-spring suspension. Releases in this series include the early Mk III welded plate turret and the rounded edges of the cast style of the Mk IV turret. Additional details include subtle airbrush weathering and hand paint tools such as axe, shovel and tow cables.
