GeminiJets Gemini 200 G2JSD236
Kawasaki C-1 Diecast Model
JASDF 402nd Hikotai, #58-1012, Iruma AB, Japan, JASDF 50th Anniversary 2004

Limited Edition

1:200 Scale   Length   Width
Kawasaki C-1   5.75"   6"

This Kawasaki C-1 model of the JASDF (Japanese Air Self-Defense Force) 50th anniversary, 58-1012 belongs to the 402nd squadron of the 2nd tactical airlift group. The JASDF put memorial colorings on all aircraft of all squadrons for its 50th anniversary in 2004 and this model is of one of these. The design was created by the corps members and applied over a three week period. The camouflage was based on the original green/brown pattern, subsituting those colors for blue and gray. The 2nd Tactcal Airlift Group's lightning bolt was applied to the engine nacelles along with a female figure. The 402nd squadron is deployed to the Iruma base of the Saitama prefecture. In addition to performing tatical roles such as paratroop and airborne cargo drops, C-1s are used to transport materials and personnel to every JASDF base in the country.

Please note: Unlike other models in the Gemini 200 series, this model does not include a stand for displaying the model "in flight".

Kawasaki C-1

Designed to meet a JASDF requirement for a C-46 Commando replacement, the C-1 was first flown on November 12th, 1970. Typical of modern military transport designs, the C-1 has a high-wing, high t-tail configuration to Maximise cabin volume and allow for easy loading through a rear ramp. The C-1 requires a crew of 5 and is capable of lifting 26,000lbs of cargo or 60 fully-equipped troops or 45 paratroops. Political limitations in the 1960s restricted the design to a range of just 700nm, severly limiting the operational capabilities of the C-1.

Gemini's 1:200 scale Kawasaki C-1 is constructed almost entirely from diecast metal with only the smallest amount of plastic used. This model's solidly constructed and seamless wide-body fuselage features a wonderfully sculpted nose with pad-printed windows and doors that do not interrupt the lines of the aircraft. The solid metal wings feature integrated flap fairings and all-metal engine nacelles with turbo fan engine details inside. Additional details include fixed metal landing gear fitted with scale metal gear doors, an SKE radar mounted on top of the fuselage just forward of the wing and a sturdy metal pitot tube on top of the vertical stabilizer.
