Antonov An-225 Mriya   8.25"   8.75"

"Mriya" (Dream) was developed in the 1980s from the already large An-124 as part of the "Buran" space program. It first flew in 1988 and aroused quite some astonishment with its first appearances in the west at the Paris and Farnborough exhibitions in 1989 and 1990, respectively. The model sports the first color scheme, including the Soviet registration.

Antonov An-225 Mriya

Designed as a strategic airlift cargo aircraft, the An-225 Mriya (Dream) was first flown on December 21st, 1988. The An-225 was developed as an enlarged derivative of the An-124 for carrying the Buran-class orbiter vehcile. With a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tonnes, the An-225 held several records, including heaviest aircraft ever built and largest wingspan of any aircraft in operational service.
