Paul H. Poberezny is one of the most decorated men in the international aviation community, having received literally hundreds of trophies, awards and honors for his countless contributions to the world of flight. He is a 1999 inductee to the National Aviation Hall of Fame in Dayton, Ohio, joining just luminaries as Charles Lindbergh, Jimmy Doolittle and the Wright Brothers.

A man of limitless energy, Paul is best known as the founder of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) and as well as one of the world's largest and most significant aviation events – the annual EAA AirVenture Oshkosh. The seven-day event attracts an attendance of more than 500,000 and well over 10,000 airplanes. His distinguished military career spanned almost 30 years, during which time he was as a pilot, test pilot and a veteran of both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Prior to retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, Paul became the only man in the armed forces to attain all seven aviation wings the military had to offer – glider pilot, service pilot, rated pilot, liaison pilot, senior pilot, Army aviator and command pilot. Even more impressive, he was able to accomplish this feat without ever having the benefit of military aviation training. Paul has flown nearly 500 different types of aircraft, including more than 170 amateur-built (homebuilt) airplanes. These include some of the famous military aircraft in our nation's history… P-39 "Airacobra," P-40 "Warhawk," P-47 "Thunderbolt," P-51 "Mustang," and the F4U "Corsair" to name a few. He has also flown in the left seat of the B-17 "Flying Fortress," the C-46 "Commando" and numerous other airplanes from the military inventory.

Today, Paul is considered one of aviation's leading spokesmen here in the United States and around the world, representing the interests of more than 170,000 active EAA members. His P-51 Mustang resides in the EAA's beautiful museum located at their headquarters in Oshkosh Wisconsin.

Limited Edition of 500 pieces worldwide, each hand-signed by the pilot.

North American P-51D Mustang

Designed to meet an RAF requirement for fighter-bomber and reconnaissance aircraft, the P-51 Mustang was first flown on October 26th, 1940. This versatile aircraft was capable of escorting bombers on long-range missions, engaging in dogfights, and dropping down to destroy German targets on the ground. At least eight versions of the P-51 were produced, but it was the definitive P-51D that gave the Mustang its classic warbird appearance. Britain and the US both tested the airframe with the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, which gave the aircraft tremendous performance gains. The Truman Senate War Investigating Committee called the Mustang "the most aerodynamically perfect pursuit plane in existence."

Hobby Master's 1:48 scale P-51 Mustang is a well-thought-out, quality product, constructed almost entirely from diecast metal with intelligent use of plastic components. The sliding canopy opens to reveal pad printed flight controls, instrument panel and radio equipment boxes. The all-metal propeller spins freely, and the wing flaps and radiator cowling are also movable. Separately applied metal exhaust stacks have six flanged pipes on each side, and pad printed rivets can be seen on the flaps, engine cowling and rudder. Landing gear and doors are constructed as a complete subassembly for easy configuration. Releases in this series include a variety of wing mounted external fuel tanks and ordnance.
