41-25714 was completed by the Boeing Airplane Company on May 11, 1942 and delivered to the USAAF on May 16,1942. Its first assignment was the AAF Basic Flying Training School at Maxwell Army Air Field in Alabama. From here it went to the 67th Flying Training Detachment in Tennessee and later on to the AAF Flying Training School in Texas and used by the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots (WASP). In August 1944 it was assigned to the AAF Flying School at Goodfellow Army Air Field in San Antonio Texas. In 1945 the aircraft was declared surplus and sold and registered as N59293 and then converted for crop dusting. In the 1980s the aircraft was sold and partially restored and used for sightseeing tours before being sold to Michael and Andrew Porter in 197. They took 10 years locating parts for a full restoration and in August 2008 completed the task. In 2011 N59293 was the National Stearman Fly-In 2011 award winner for excellence in restoration of an Army Stearman.

Boeing PT-17 Stearman

Designed as a primary trainer, the Stearman Kaydet was first flown in 1933. Prior to their aquisition by Boeing in 1934, the Stearman Aircraft Company developed a series of rugged biplane designs that culminated in the immensely successful Model 75 Kaydet, more commonly referred to as the "Stearman". The aircraft was adopted by the US Army Air Corps and US Navy as their primary trainer during World War II. The simple and robust design made surplus Stearmans a popular choice for crop dusters after the type was retired from the military and, in fact, a large number of airworthy examples still exist to this day.

Hobby Master's 1:48 scale Boeing (Stearman) Kaydet is a beautifully constructed diecast model, ready for display right out of the box with no assembly required. The model features two open cockpits that offer an unobstructed view of interior details such as pad-printed instrument dials and control sticks with hand-painted handgrips. The uncowled engine provides a clear view of its cooling fins and pushrod on each cylinder head behind a fee spinning propeller. The fuselage, wings and tail surfaces feature simulated stretched fabric and fine guaged wire has been hand-threaded between the model's wings to represent structural bracing wires.
