Leibstandarte SS Adolf Hitler (LSSAH) was founded in 1933 as Hitler's personal bodyguard regiment. In 1939 the LSSAH became a separate unit of the Waffen-SS and spent the latter part of 1942 refitting as a panzergrenadier division. In late 1942 the entire German Eastern Front was close to collapse and General Feldmarschall Erich von Manstein requested reinforcements to stop the Soviet Army at Karkov. The LSSAH arrived in Karkov in January 1943 and fought many battles defending the city and surrounding area only be forced out. More German forces arrived and by March 21, 1943 Karkov was back in German control.
Designed as a series of light and middle-weight trucks for various civilian and military purposes, the Opel Blitz was produced between 1930 and 1975 but is best known for its role in WWII. This 3-ton workhorse served in all German theatres; it carried troops and supplies and was also used as a service vehicle for the Messerschmitt Me 323. This truck's history is somewhat controversial because of the role GM played in its development-at the time, Opel was a subsidiary of the American manufacturer. The Opel Blitz appeared in the film "Raiders of the Lost Ark," and remains one of the symbols of Nazi Germany during the war. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Opel Kfz.305 Blitz Truck is constructed in diecast metal, with plastic components used to achieve finer details. Some of this model's most remarkable features include delicate side mirrors with simulated mirror glass, transparent windows with wiper blades, headlights and guides mounted to each fender and a separately mounted hand-painted shovel. The chassis is constructed in diecast metal with rear transaxle and leaf-spring suspension visible on the underside. The wheels have rubber tires and spin freely on connecting metal axles. Releases in this series include a tanker fuel truck configuration and an all-purpose troop carrier with simulated wood sides, bench seats and removable canopy.
