On February 14, 1944 the Battle of Kasserine Pass in Tunisia began. The Allies raced to capture the port of Tunis by way of the Kasserine Pass, a two mile wide gap in the Atlas Mountains and the German forces were waiting and perfectly poised to take them by surprise. Axis troops went to meet the Americans and then fell back luring the Americans into the trap. When the battle was over the Americans had suffered their most humiliating defeat with ten thousand U.S. casualties and two thousand German.

Willys Jeep

Designed to meet a US Department of War requirement for a light, cross-country reconnaissance vehicle, the Willys MB Army Jeep was manufactured between 1941 and 1945. The Willys Jeep was the original version of what would later become one of the most iconic vehicles in American history, evolving into a popular civilian vehicle that is still being produced today. The Willys Jeep was a compact, four-wheel drive vehicle that rapidly became one of the most prolific vehicles of WWII. More than 640,000 standardized versions were produced, with 8,690 other versions built over a period of four years.

Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Jeep has lots of scale detail in a small package. The body is constructed in diecast metal and the chassis, drive train and suspension are constructed in plastic, which allows for maximum detail. The interior features a pad-printed instrument panel, separately painted seat cushions, a steering wheel and three transmission gear-shifts. There is a folding windscreen on the exterior, along with a delicate side mirror painted to look like real glass. Separately applied battlefield equipment includes shovels, hatchets, jerry cans and a spare tire. Underneath the model the drive train and leaf-spring suspension are clearly visible.
