The Gee Bee Model R Super Sportster (also known as the GB Sportster), sometimes nicknamed The Flying Silo due to the short, fat fuselage resembling that type of farm storage building, was a special purpose racing aircraft made by Granville Brothers Aircraft of Springfield, Massachusetts. Gee Bee stands for Granville Brothers.
The Model Power "Airliner Collection" range presents affordable, ready-made diecast models of civilian aircraft. Model Power "Airliner Collection" diecast airplanes feature:
- Diecast metal construction with some plastic components.
- Pad printed markings and placards that won't fade or peel like decals.
- Presentation stand to display the aircraft "in flight".
- Permanently extended landing gear.
- Selected moving parts such as spinning propellers.
Designed by the Granville Brothers as a high-performance air-racer, the Gee Bee R-1 was first flown in 1929.
