The Fiat G55 was a single-seater Italian fighter plane designed by Giuseppe Gabrielli and manufactured by Fiat. The new Oxford model of the G55 is as flown by Capitano Giovanni Bonet of Squadrilia Complementaire Montefusco, ANR, Venera Reale in 1944 and you will notice the 1:72 scale replica has his name inscribed in white on both sides of the nose. Painted with a dark green upper side and grey underside, the Italian green, orange and white insignia feature on the side alongside the number 5 and also on the tail. An interesting detail is the reproduction of the Pitot tubes (pressure measuring instruments) on the wings. More realism is added with the rusty exhaust tubes running along the front fuselage.
Designed as an all-metal single-seat fighter monoplane, the G.55 was first flown on April 30th, 1942. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
