Hanomag Sd.Kfz.251 Half-Track Diecast Model
German Army, #2533, Eastern Front, 1944

1:32 Scale   Length   Width
Hanomag Sd.Kfz.251 Half-Track   7.25"   2.75"

Die cast metal and plastic replica of the Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Hanomag in 1:32nd scale. The Sd. Kfz. 251/1 Hanomag was the first in a series of highly mobile armored German transport vehicles. It embodied the fast pace advances of the blitzkrieg war. Over 15,000 Sd. Kfz. 251 half-track vehicles with many variants were manufactured during WWII and they saw many improvements and changes during the course of the war.

Hanomag Sd.Kfz.251 Half-Track

In 1911, the French engineer Adolphe Kégresse converted a number of cars to half-tracks for the Tsar of Russia. The Kégresse track design standardized in 1940 and was widely used for armored personnel carriers, mortar carriers, anti-aircraft guns, anti-tank guns, artillery tractors and armored fighting vehicles, especially by the Germans and Americans. Regular wheels on the front and caterpillar tracks on the back gave this vehicle the cross-country capabilities of a tank and the handling of a wheeled vehicle. The rear compartment of each model was encapsulated with face-hardened armor plate, which provided little protection above the level of the rifleman's individual weapon.

Forces of Valor’s 1:32 scale Sd.Kfz.251 series includes the standard troop carrier half-track “Schutzenpanzerwagen” and the “Stummel” (stump), equipped with a 75mm gun. Each release features rolling rubber tracks with working suspension on each track wheel and a variety of battlefield accessories. The front wheels are steerable with details of the steering linkages visible below. The engine hatch opens to reveal a highly detailed Maybach 6 cylinder engine. The large, wide-open crew compartment provides a clear view of a fully rendered interior. The model’s hull features opening rear doors and storage compartments and a rotating rear machine gun.
