McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle   10.75"   7.25"

On Sept. 13, 1985, Maj. Wilbert Pearson took off along with other chaser aircraft, ascended to 35,000 feet and fired an ASM-135 ASAT Anti-Satellite missle into the heavens. The rocket separated from the missile after the first stage and propelled a miniature homing vehicle into space on a perfect collision course with the target satellite, marking the only successful satellite kill by an aircraft-launched missile in history. In commemoration of that historic day, 22 years later, "Celestial Eagle" was painted on the nose of 76-0084, and the aircraft was flown on a remembrance flight by Capt. Todd Pearson, an active-duty F-15 pilot from Hountain Home AFB, Idaho and the son of now retired Maj. Gen. Wilbert Pearson.

Please note: An optional display stand is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".

McDonnell Douglas F-15A Eagle

Designed to meet US Air Force requirements for an air superiority fighter to replace the F-4 Phantom, the F-15 Eagle first flew on July 27, 1972. Following reviews of proposals, the United States Air Force selected McDonnell Douglas's design in 1969 to meet the service's need for a dedicated air superiority fighter. Since entering service in 1976, it is among the most successful modern fighters, with over 100 victories and no losses in aerial combat, with the majority of the kills by the Israeli Air Force.

Witty's 1:72 scale F-15s feature an impressive amount of pad-printed markings including some elaborate paint schemes and numerous warning placards found adorning the entire airframe. They are highly detailed with a delicate thin cambered wing, simulated stainless-steel heat shielding surrounding the engine exhausts, movable razor thin all metal elevators and rudders. The underside of the aircraft features non-configurable, yet highly detailed, sturdy metal landing gear with a full complement of beautifully pad printed ordnance. Showing remarkable attention to detail, actuators extend and retract with the hinged canopy and speed brake and compressor fans will even spin if air is blown into the engine intakes!
