Positional metal display stand designed for Witty F/A-18C and F/A-18D Hornet models. Designed by Northrop as a smaller, naval derivative of the USAF’s YF-17 Air Combat Fighter prototype, the F/A-18 was first flown in November, 1978. The "Hornet" is a multi-mission, supersonic, twin engine, all-weather fighter and attack aircraft. It can operate from aircraft carriers or land bases and converts efficiently from fighter to strike mode. During Operation Desert Storm, the Hornet proved that a single aircraft on a single mission could serve as both a fighter and a bomber. The U.S. Navy's Blue Angels Flight Demonstration Squadron flies the F/A-18, which also comprises the aviation strike force for many foreign countries.© Copyright 2003-2009 The Flying Mule, Inc.
