For the RAF student pilot hoping to eventually fly the capable Eurofighter Typhoon, he or she will first have to successfully negotiate training in such aircraft as the Grob Tutor, Shorts Tucano and BAe Hawk before arriving at either RAF Coningsby or Lossiemouth to realise their dream. The final stage of this training could be a seat in a Typhoon T.3, which is the latest twin-seat pilot conversion training aircraft for the RAF's Eurofighter Typhoon force and one of the most advanced aircraft in the world.

Whilst this aircraft is specifically designed to allow student pilots to gain experience in flying the RAF's premier air defence fighter aircraft, it retains full combat capability and in times of conflict will join the rest of the Typhoon force in defending Britain's airspace. As the Typhoon platform continues to develop into an effective multi-role aircraft, the T.3 will be training future RAF Typhoon pilots for many years to come.

Eurofighter Typhoon T.Mk 3

Designed as part of a co-operative effort by Germany, Italy and the UK to produce an air superiority fighter, the Eurofighter was first flown on March 27th, 1994. The Eurofighter is a single-seat, twin-engine, agile combat aircraft used in air-to-air, air-to-ground and tactical reconnaissance roles. It is intentionally aerodynamically unstable, which gives it its high levels of agility-but this means the Typhoon is controlled by a computerized "fly by wire" system instead of by its pilot. The Eurofighter's first rate performance is matched by excellent all round vision and by sophisticated attack, identification and defense systems and stealth technology.

Corgi's 1:72 scale Eurofighter series includes the single-seat F.2 and the two-seat T.1 trainer. Large canopies in both the single and two-seat versions provide easy viewing of crew figures and cockpit interior. The speed brake is easily configured for display in the deployed position and securely locks in place. A notable feature of this delta wing model is the replication of canards that rotate in unison located ahead of the contoured main wing. This model is constructed using only the minimal amount of plastic and feels surprisingly heavy. The engine intakes are beautifully reproduced to highlight its anti-radar signature design with engine afterburner detail present inside the exhaust nozzles.
