Dragon Models 1:144 Warbirds 51030
Chengdu J-20 Black Eagle Display Model
PLAAF, Prototype, Heungtianba Airport, China, Maiden Flight, January 11th 2011

1:144 Scale   Length   Width
Chengdu J-20 Black Eagle   5.25"   3.5"

Even though the J-20 was only recently unveiled, Dragon Warbirds has produced an accurately dimensioned model of this groundbreaking fighter as it appeared during the Chengdu test flight. The model is made to 1/144 scale, and it's authentically painted and carries the requisite PLAAF markings. Detail is crisp and sharply molded, and the length and size of this fighter is most impressive. Detailed landing gear is also included, and it can be exhibited on a modern-looking display stand. This is a stunning model of a stealth fighter that will soon serve in the ranks of a rising superpower. Not only is it Warbirds' first ever J-20, it's the very first Chinese subject in the range too!

Please note: Although models in the Dragon Warbirds series usually feature optional extended/retracted landing gear, this particular model features permanently extended landing gear only.

Chengdu J-20 Mighty Dragon

Designed as a fifth generation stealth fighter, comparable to the F-22, the J-20 was first flown on January 11th, 2011. The J-20 is radically more advanced than any previous chinese design, using state-of-the-art stealth technology, supercruise capabaility and a modern fly-by-wire control system. Speculation exists that some of this technology may have been reverse-engineered from an F-117 that was downed over Serbia in 1999. Much larger than the F-22, the J-20 is most likely intended for a long-range intercept role with the ability to destroy enemy AWACS and Electronic Warfare aircraft from afar. It is anticipated that the aircraft may reach operational status by 2018.
