Eaglemoss Warships of the World WW0001
Yamato-class Battleship Diecast Model
IJN, Yamato, 1945, NO MAGAZINE

1:1100 Scale   Length   Width
Yamato-class Battleship   9.5"   1.25"

Lead ship of her class, Yamato was, with Musashi, the largest, most powerful battleship ever constructed. Sunk at Okinawa in 1945.

Please note: Unlike other releases in this series, this particular model ships in a plastic clamshell case only, without a cardboard outer box and without a Japanese language magazine.

Yamato-class Battleship

Commissioned in December 1941, the Yamato battleships were the largest in military history. They were also the most well-armed, each one carrying a naval artillery surpassing that of any other warship. Armed with nine enormous 18.1 inch battery guns capable of firing 3,200 pound armor piercing shells, the two 65,000 ton vessels in this class were built in extreme secrecy and spent much of their military careers in naval bases, deploying only a few times to counter American raids. In 1944, the Yamato class ship Musashi was sunk during the Battle of Leyte Gulf; the following year the flagship Yamato was sunk during Operation Ten-Go.
