1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Krupp Sd.Kfz.121 Panzer II F   2.5"   1.25"

Beginning July 4, 1943 the German forces launched an offensive known as Operation Zitadelle (Citadel) against Soviet forces in the region of Kursk. The Germans anticipated a Soviet offensive and hoped Zitadelle would encircle large numbers of Soviet troops and equipment weakening their enemy enough to shift the balance of power in their favor. Instead of a great German success Operation Zitadelle started what became the Battle of Kursk with heavy German losses they couldn't afford. The Soviets had received prior information about the attack and were prepared. That was the last German offensive in Eastern Europe.

Krupp Sd.Kfz.121 Panzer II F

Designed to fill a gap in the production of the Panzer III and Panzer IV tanks, which were experiencing delays in development, the Panzer II or Panzerkampfwagen II was first tested in October of 1935. Larger than its predecessor, the Panzer I, the Panzer II was Germany's primary battle tank until the beginning of 1941 but was nevertheless fairly ineffective in combat. It was really better suited for use as a light reconnaissance tank, and is particularly important because of the role it played in the development of later more powerful Panzers. Panzer IIs were removed from the front lines in 1942.

Hobby Master's 1:72 scale Panzer II is a small tank in this scale. The bottom portion of the hull is constructed in diecast metal with the top portion and turret in plastic, which allows for maximum details like panel hinges and simulated diamond-plate surfaces on the tracks' fenders. Battlefield and track repair equipment are both separately applied and integrated into the hull's casting. The 360 degree rotating turret has a pivoting co-axial mounted machine gun and cannon, and the leaf-spring suspension on each road wheel can be clearly seen through the vehicle's tracks.
