This elegant and supersonic "White Swan" is named after Alexander Novikov, the Chief Marshal of the Soviet Air Force during the Second World War. In addition to several other medals, he was twice decorated a Hero of the Soviet Union, which is remembered by the depiction of two medals on the right fuselage side of RF-94109.
Designed as a heavy low-level penetration bomber, the Tu-160 was first flown in 1981. It is one of the largest and heaviest combat aircraft in the world with a top speed exceeding Mach 2 and a range of around 7,500 miles. The aircraft is designed for strategic bombing missions and is capable of penetrating sophisticated air defense systems and delivering a variety of weapons, including nuclear and conventional cruise missiles, free-fall bombs, and precision-guided munitions. Despite its Cold War origins, the Tu-160 remains a formidable strategic bomber and is a key component of Russia's long-range strategic bomber fleet. © Copyright 2003-2024 The Flying Mule, Inc.
