Precision Model Art Display Armor P0309
V-2 Rocket Display Model
German Army, 1943, w/Mobile Launch Trailer

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
V-2 Rocket   7.75"   2"

Mobility was key to the V-2 program. The rockets themselves were typically stored securely several miles from the launch site. When the time came, a rocket would be loaded onto a mobile launch trailer (Meillerwagen) and towed to the launch site by a prime mover such as the Sd.Kfz.8 12T Half-Track. Once in place, the trailer would raise the rocket to its vertical launch position atop a firing table (Brennstand). The rocket would then be aligned and fueled and its onboard electronics and gyros would then be set and armed. From the time the rocket was raised, to the time it was fired, about 90 minutes or more.

Precision Model Art have a reputation for producing incredible detail in their 1:72 armor pieces and this V-2 Launch Set is no exception. This model can be displayed in transport configuration, with one or more of their equally detailed Sd.Kfz.8 12T Half-Tracks, or in launch configuration with the rocket deployed on the firing table.

V-2 Rocket

Designed as a single-stage ballistic missile, the V-2 was first flown on October 3rd, 1942. The missile with a liquid-propellant rocket engine was developed during the Second World War in Germany as a "vengeance weapon", assigned to attack Allied cities as retaliation for the Allied bombings against German cities. The V-2 rocket also became the first artificial object to cross the boundary of space with the vertical launch of MW 18014 on 20 June 1944. Beginning in September 1944, over 3,000 V-2s were launched by the German Wehrmacht against Allied targets, first London and later Antwerp and Liege.

Precision Model Art's perfectly scaled V-2 rocket is constructed in plastic with etched surface details, an authentic paint scheme, and a removable panel to allow the model to be displayed with interior engine details revealed. The Meillerwagen trailer is constructed in metal and plastic and features an elevating erector, an intricate service gantry, a swiveling front truck, and authentically weathered paint. Also included is the all important trailerable Brennstand, with flame deflectors, on which to display the V-2 in launch mode.
