No. 195 Squadron was formed at Duxford on November 16, 1942, and began to receive Typhoons later in the month. In February 1943 it moved to Lancashire for a period of training. Before it could take part in that operation, however, the squadron was disbanded in February 1944. On October 1, 1944, No. 195 re-formed from C Flight of No. 115 Squadron at Witchford as a Lancaster squadron in Bomber Command. It took part in raids over Germany for the rest of the war.
