This A340-300 was the first every manufactured by Airbus Industrie. It is currently the test-bed for the new A380 engines, the Rolls-Royce Trent 900 turbofan. This testing is being performed ahead of the A380's commercial service entry with Singapore Airlines in the spring of 2006.
