Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60214
KMDB T-34 Display Model
Soviet Army, #228, Eastern Front, 1943, (T-34/76 mod 1942)

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
KMDB T-34   3.25"   1.75"

This 1/72 model represents a T-34 fighting on the horrific Leningrad Front in 1943. The tank is fitted with a cast turret, but it doesn't possess the standard coat of green-colored paint found on most Soviet armored vehicles of the time. Instead it has a sand-colored camouflage overspray pattern that makes the model stand out. The collector's piece has been carefully and professionally assembled and painted to make it as realistic as possible. An appropriate amount of weathering has been applied using a dry-brush painting technique. It was tanks like this that put up such a spirited defense in the face of appalling conditions in Leningrad. Perhaps the second most lethal battle in world history, the Siege of Leningrad lasted from September 8, 1941 till January 27, 1944. When it comes to the number of deaths caused by the German siege of Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), most commentators settle on a figure of around 1.1 million. The chief cause of death was due to starvation and exposure. The Russian defenders resisted for 872 days, while the German army continued to shell it with artillery. Dragon Armor has released a scale model portraying a veteran of the siege - a T-34/76 Mod.1942 tank.

KMDB T-34

Designed to replace the Soviet BT-5, BT-7 and T-26 infantry tanks, the T-34 was produced between 1940 and 1958. The T-34 is often regarded as one of the most successful and most influential tanks of the era. It was WWII's most highly produced tank and history's second most highly produced tank. The T-34 had a powerful engine, wide tracks and heavy armor. It was continuously refined, and by 1944 had gained a more powerful 85mm gun and a superior three-man turret design. The success of the T-34 can be measured in part by its longevity-by 1996, T-34s were still serving in 27 nations around the world.

Dragon's 1:72 scale T-34 medium tanks are true collector's pieces. The top portion of the model's hull and turret is constructed entirely of diecast plastic, which allows for the greatest possible detail, and the lower hull is constructed of diecast metal. Each release features a 360-degree rotating turret with elevating cannon and a variety of battlefield equipment configurations separately attached to the hull, such as tow cables, spare tracks and tools. The series includes early variants as well as mid-war production variants with notable upgrades such as a commander's cupola and a larger mid-war hexagonal shaped cast turret.
