Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60342
Henschel/Porsche Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger Display Model
German Army sPzJgAbt 653, #314, Alsace, France, 1945, (Porsche Version) Diorama

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Henschel/Porsche Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger   4.25"   2"

WWII's heaviest armored vehicle was the Sd.Kfz. 186 Jagdtiger, which weighed in at a ponderous 71.7 tonnes. It entered service in September 1944 and saw combat until the end of the war. These monstrous antitank vehicles were supplied to only two combat units – schwere Panzerjäger-Abteilung (sPzJgAbt.) 512 and 653. Dragon Armor has produced an excellent 1/72 scale example of a Jagdtiger with Porsche suspension. All but 11 of the 88 Jagdtigers eventually built had a Henschel suspension system, which had nine road wheels instead of the Porsche's eight wheels. This makes this Dragon Armor that little bit more unique.

Details on this fully built-up model are beautifully recreated in miniature, and this tank destroyer with 12.8cm PaK 44 L/55 gun is ready to wreak havoc on approaching Allied tanks! In actual fact, only about 20% of Jagdtigers were lost in combat, with the majority being destroyed by their crews after they broke down or ran out of fuel. The model, vehicle no. "314" from 3/sPzJgAbt. 653, is painted in a two-color camouflage scheme. This heavy tank-hunter battalion fought the advancing U.S. Army in March and April 1945 south of Mannheim, before retreating into southern Bavaria. The model is an accurate representation of a Jagdtiger from this period, and is offered to collectors with its own diorama featuring a cobbled road and continental-style buildings. This is a well-balanced little scene that shows a mighty Jagdtiger growling up a narrow German street. All details in the diorama are pre-painted and preassembled, and it constitutes an instant vignette suitable for desktop display.

Henschel/Porsche Sd.Kfz.186 Jagdtiger

The Panzerjager Tiger or Jagdtiger was a tank destroyer that saw service from late 1944 to the end of the war on both the Western Front and Eastern Front. It was the heaviest armored fighting vehicle to see service during World War II.

Dragon's 1:72 scale Jadgtiger is constructed entirely from plastic, which allows for the finest level of detailing. Cutting torch marks can be seen at the ends of the casements on the armor plates, and rivets, bolts and handles are visible on the superstructure's hatches and thinly hollowed engine vents. The hull features separately applied headlights, separately applied track equipment and the visible barrel of the internal machine gun. Releases in this series have a simulated Zimmerit coating or battlefield equipment and spare tracks mounted on hooks to the sides of the casement. Available models include the Henschel with nine road wheels and the Porsche version with eight.
