Dragon Models 1:72 Armor Collector Series 60505
Willys Jeep Display Model
US Army 101st Airborne Screaming Eagles, Western Front, 1944, 2-Piece Set

1:72 Scale   Length   Width
Willys Jeep   1.75"   0.75"

Perhaps the most iconic military vehicle of all time is the Jeep, officially known in US military parlance as "Truck, 1/4-Ton, 4x4". With production of 640,000 of these little utility vehicles from 1941-45, it served within the army ranks of Allied countries such as the USA, Britain, France and even the Soviet Union. Powered by a 60hp 4-cylinder engine, the 1/4-Ton Truck was a mere 3.33m long, yet it was remarkably agile over rough terrain. Now, for the first time, Dragon has produced a remarkable 1/72 scale rendition of this famous 4x4 vehicle, and it has just been added to the Dragon Armor collection.

Modelers will understand that it's not easy to make such a diminutive vehicle in such a small scale, but this Dragon Armor vehicle is rich in detail and is an accurate rendition of the original vehicle. Utilizing Dragon's newest technological innovations, the vehicle is reproduced with a sophisticated degree of detail. To boost the appeal of the 1/4-Ton 4x4 Truck even further, the Dragon Armor set features two complete 1/72 scale models of this utility vehicle. Naturally, they feature different detailed markings representing different US Army combat units. These fully built-up and pre-painted miniatures relieve collectors of the task of having to paint such a small-scale model. These 4x4 vehicles may be tiny but they're bristling with detail. This twin set is a real boon to collectors, proving that good things do indeed come in small packages!

Willys Jeep

Designed to meet a US Department of War requirement for a light, cross-country reconnaissance vehicle, the Willys MB Army Jeep was manufactured between 1941 and 1945. The Willys Jeep was the original version of what would later become one of the most iconic vehicles in American history, evolving into a popular civilian vehicle that is still being produced today. The Willys Jeep was a compact, four-wheel drive vehicle that rapidly became one of the most prolific vehicles of WWII. More than 640,000 standardized versions were produced, with 8,690 other versions built over a period of four years.

Dragon's 1:72 scale Willy's Jeep is constructed entirely in plastic to accurately replicate fine-scale details. The open cab provides an unobstructed view of the interior featuring an accurately thin-rimmed steering wheel, three transmission gear-shift levers and seats. Some releases also include a center mounted heavy machine gun complete with ammo box. An exceptional amount of scale detail is clearly visible on the model's underside such as an intricately detailed leaf-spring suspension, transaxles and separately applied engine exhaust system. The exterior features separately applied battlefield equipment such as shovels, hatchets, jerry cans and a spare tire. Additional details include a fixed transparent windscreen and delicate side mirror with simulated glass.
