Dragon Armor has launched a new collectors edition item in the magnificently detailed scale of 1/35. Item No. 61024 portrays a Panther Ausf.G Late Production variant in a stunning camouflage scheme. Fully detailed from the characteristic sag of its track links to the provision of its full complement of on-vehicle tools, plus the level of detail on the camouflage scheme has to be seen to be believed! This collector piece exhibits astounding craftsmanship, all gloriously revealed in 1/35 scale.
The model represents a Panther Ausf.G of 1./Panzer Regiment 26, of the Großdeutschland (which translates as “Greater Germany”) Division. This division was an elite army formation and was equipped with the best German equipment available. While the division fought exclusively on the Eastern Front in the latter years of WWII, various units came and went. In June 1944 at the time of the Allied landings in Normandy, 1./Pz.Rgt .26 was based in France in order to train on Panthers. The unit’s Panthers were quickly thrown into the attack to stem the build up of Allied forces, and this is the time period depicted by this model. This latest addition to the Dragon Armor range lives up to the high standard set by its predecessors, and it will have collectors meowing with pleasure!
Designed to replace to the PzKpfw IV, which had met its match in the new Soviet T-34, the Panzerkampfwagen V "Panther" series of heavy tanks were armed with powerful weapons and equally powerful armor protection. Thought by many to be the best German tank of WWII, the Panther featured a sloped armored turret with a long barrel 75mm main gun and an anti-aircraft 7.92mm machine gun. It was equipped with anti-magnetic paste to combat magnetic mines, and armor skirts offered further protection for the track system and crew. Approximately 5,500 Panthers were built during WWII.© Copyright 2003-2010 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Dragon’s 1:35 scale Panther “G” tanks live up to the extremely high standards set by Dragon’s previous 1:35 scale releases. These models are constructed almost entirely of diecast plastic, which allows for the finest possible detail. Each model has a rotating turret with elevating cannon, a moveable forward machine gun, road wheel suspension, hull maintenance access covers, pivoting barrel support and opening commander’s hatch. Individually applied battlefield equipment and tools are correctly stowed on the hull. The series includes early variants as well as late production models with altered engine deck layout, raised fan cover, new exhaust arrangement and a new mantlet design.
