This airplane was designed for dogfighting, so it was engineered for quick climbing and for tight turning. Manfred von Richtofen, Rittmeister 1892-1918, known as the "Red Baron ", this pilot was the greatest of the German Aces, and the highest scoring fighter pilot of WWI on any side, with a total of 80 victories, he received almost every decoration that could be awarded - far too many to be listed here.
