The Kliment Voroshilov (KV) tanks were a series of Soviet heavy tanks, named after the Soviet defense commissar and politician Kliment Voroshilov. The KV series were known for their extremely heavy armour protection, which was capable of resisting all German anti-tank weapons up to 75 mm and 88 mm calibre, both of which were comparatively rare at the time of the initial German invasion of the Soviet Union in World War II. Prior to the invasion, about 500 of the over 22,000 tanks in Soviet service at the time were of the KV-1 type.

KV-1 Heavy Tank

Designed to replace the disappointing multi-turreted T-35 heavy tank, the Soviet KV was in service from 1939 to 1945. The primary goal of the KV's designers was to build a tank with impenetrable armor, and they succeeded-any tank in service at the time of the KV's introduction would have had to attack at point blank range in order to breach its hull. It also had good firepower and traction, but was unfortunately slow and difficult to steer. By 1942, with the introduction of 50 and 75 mm guns and the high-velocity MK 10, the KV had lost its armor advantage, though it remained in service through the end of the war.

Forces of Valor's 1:32 scale Soviet KV1 heavy tank features moveable forward and rear machine guns and separately applied battlefield equipment such as tow cables and spare track. The top portion of the hull is constructed in diecast metal, and the rotating turret with opening crew hatch is constructed in plastic, which allows for more detailed casting effects. The model's nicely detailed wheels and sprockets spin freely inside the wide weathered rolling rubber tracks, and there is a pivoting metal cannon up front. Battlefield diorama accessories are included with each release, which gives collectors a variety of display options.
