The most common form of German tank in WWII, the Panzer IV series was the workhorse of the German tank corps. It is the only German tank to have been produced from the onset of the war to its end, and served as a base from which other German armoured vehicles were created, such as tank destroyers and anti-aircraft mobile artillery. The Ausf. J variant had the greatest range of the series (up to 310 kms between refuellings), as it featured an extra fuel tank.
Over 6,000 examples of Panzerkampfwagen IV tanks were produced between 1943 and 1945. Armed with a short-barrel 75mm gun and driven by a 250-horsepower engine, the Panzer IV quickly became the workhorse of Panzer Divisions. After the appearance of the Russian T-34-with its dominant guns and heavier, sloped armor-the Panzer needed design modifications such as thick side and turret skirts, a new gun (the KwK 40 75mm L/48) and a larger turret. With these upgrades, the Panzer IV proved equal to the Soviet T-34 and was also effective against British tanks and American M-4 Sherman Medium Tanks. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
Forces of Valor's 1:72 scale Panzer IV is constructed almost entirely of diecast plastic, which allows for the greatest possible detail. Among this model's many moving parts are a 360 degree rotating turret with elevating metal cannon and rolling rubber tracks and wheels. The top portion of the hull is diecast metal and includes hand-painted equipment, battle damaged fenders, tool details see and separately applied extra track. On the underside is a beautifully recreated maintenance hatch with individual rivets and detailed suspension. A hand-painted commander figure is positioned inside the top hatch.
