The Ling-Temco-Vought A-7 Corsair II is a carrier-based subsonic light attack aircraft introduced to replace the United States Navy's A-4 Skyhawk, initially entering service during the Vietnam War. The aircraft was also exported to Greece in the 1970s, and Portugal and Thailand in the late 1980s.
Note: An optional display stand, WT-WTW72007S, is available separately if you wish to display this model "in-flight".
IMPORTANT NOTE: Although Witty models typically feature permanently extended landing gear, this release features configurable extended/retracted landing gear options as well as detachable weapons pylons.
Designed to replace the US Navy’s A-4 Skyhawk, the A7 was first flown on September 27th, 1965 and is one of only a few US Navy aircraft that are also operated by the US Air Force. The A-7’s configuration is characterized by a turbofan engine, high wing, low horizontal tail, large chin inlet and short landing-gear legs that retract into the fuselage. Often called the SLUFF (short little ugly fat fellow) the A-7 is a sophisticated, integrated, highly versatile airborne weapon system capable of performing a variety of search, surveillance and attack missions.© Copyright 2003-2010 The Flying Mule, Inc.
