The Shenyang J-50, also referred to as J-XD or J-XDS, is a provisional designation for a next-generation tailless lambda-wing fighter developed by Shenyang Aircraft Corporation. First observed in December 2024, the prototype appeared alongside Chengdu's J-36, sparking speculation of parallel sixth-generation projects. Initial reports noted its smaller size compared to the J-36 and use of a J-16 as chase aircraft. Imagery in 2025 confirmed features such as twin engines with thrust-vectoring nozzles, swivelable wingtips, and a crewed cockpit. By May 2025, testing revealed a long nose with chin-mounted EOTS, forward fuselage panels, and a single-seat configuration.
Designed as a sixth-generation stealth fighter aircraft, the J-50 prototype was fist flown in 2024. © Copyright 2003-2025 The Flying Mule, Inc.
