Douglas DC-8-53, serial number 45635, entered service with Air Afrique as TU-TCA. The aircraft became part of Air Afrique's long haul fleet and operated routes connecting African capitals with major destinations across Europe and the Middle East. The DC-8-53 featured turbofan engines that improved fuel efficiency and range compared with earlier variants. Configured with a multi-class passenger cabin, it provided comfortable intercontinental travel during a period of rapid growth in African aviation. Powered by Pratt & Whitney JT3D engines, TU-TCA supported the airline's international operations for many years.
Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
