Douglas DC-8-55, serial number 45643, entered service with UTA as F-BOLI. The aircraft joined Union de Transports Aeriens' long haul fleet in the 1960s and operated intercontinental routes linking France with Africa, Asia, and the Pacific. Configured with multiple passenger classes, the DC-8 provided reliable long distance jet service during the early jet age. Powered by Pratt and Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, the aircraft offered improved performance and range compared with earlier DC-8 variants. F-BOLI supported UTA's extensive global network prior to its eventual integration into Air France.
Designed to compete with the Boeing 707, the DC-8 was first flown on May 30th, 1958. © Copyright 2003-2026 The Flying Mule, Inc.
