Boeing 767-205, manufacturer serial number 23057, was registered as LN-SUV with Braathens SAFE, the Norwegian flag carrier, upon delivery in March 1984, before embarking on one of the more well-traveled careers of any 767 built. The aircraft passed through TACA International as N767BE, VARIG as PP-VNL, Britannia Airways as G-BNAX, Trans World Airlines and briefly Gulf Air as N650TW, Peruvian carrier Aero Continente as OB-1758, MAXjet Airways, and finally Air Seychelles as S7-ILF, which retired the aircraft in 2011. It was broken up at Goodyear, Arizona, in 2012, closing out nearly three decades of service across eight different airlines.

Designed as a wide-bodied, twin-engined airliner to fill the niche between the narrow-bodied 707 and wide-bodied 747, the 767 was first flown on September 26th, 1981. Developed in tandem with the narrow-bodied 757 twinjet, both aircraft share a common digital cockpit layout and are operated by a two man flight crew. Thanks to a proven reliability track-record, the 767 is approved for extended twin engine operations (ETOPS) making it a popular choice for airlines flying transatlantic routes.
