Airbus A319-132, manufacturer serial number 2568, was registered as VN-A581 with Bamboo Airways, the Vietnamese hybrid carrier, having previously flown as 9V-SBE for a Singapore-registered operator before joining Bamboo's fleet. As part of Bamboo Airways' narrowbody fleet supporting domestic Vietnamese routes and regional connections since the carrier's 2019 launch, VN-A581 reflects Bamboo's strategy of building its fleet through secondhand aircraft acquisitions to support rapid route network expansion across Vietnam and Southeast Asia. Bamboo Airways positioned itself as a hybrid carrier combining elements of full-service and low-cost models, competing directly against established Vietnamese carriers Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air while pursuing an ambitious growth strategy that later extended into long-haul international routes using wide-body Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
