Airbus A319-114, manufacturer serial number 1346, was registered as N319NB with Northwest Airlines upon delivery on October 26, 2000, supporting the carrier's domestic U.S. network from hubs including Minneapolis-St. Paul, Detroit, and Memphis. Following Northwest's 2008 merger with Delta Air Lines, one of the largest airline mergers in aviation history at the time, the aircraft transitioned into Delta's fleet under the same registration, continuing in active Delta service for years afterward as part of the combined carrier's substantial A319 operations. Northwest had built one of the largest A320-family fleets in North America during the 1990s and 2000s, and many of these aircraft, including N319NB, remained core parts of Delta's domestic narrowbody operations for well over a decade following the merger's completion.
