McDonnell Douglas DC-10-30, was registered as F-GNEM and named "Orly Quest" with AOM French Airlines, the independent French carrier formed in 1990 through the merger of several French charter operators. AOM supported long-haul international routes connecting France to destinations across Africa, the Caribbean, and Asia before later merging with Air Liberte and Air Littoral in the late 1990s. The "Orly Quest" name reflected AOM's principal Paris base at Orly Airport rather than Air France's traditional Charles de Gaulle hub, a positioning choice that let the independent carrier target price-sensitive leisure travelers who valued Orly's more convenient access to southern Paris and its typically shorter check-in and security lines.
