Boeing 737-2A1(Adv), was registered as CC-CSH with LAN Express, the domestic and regional short-haul brand of Chile's LAN Airlines, though the manufacturer serial number for this specific airframe is not confirmed in available public records. LAN Express served smaller Chilean cities along the country's uniquely long, narrow geography that the mainline LAN Airlines widebody network didn't directly reach, before the brand's eventual integration into LATAM Airlines Group following LAN's 2012 merger with Brazil's TAM. Chile's extraordinary north-south geography, stretching over 4,300 kilometers along the Pacific coast, made domestic air travel especially important for connecting the Atacama Desert's mining regions in the north to Patagonia's remote southern territories, a role LAN Express's narrowbody fleet filled for decades.
