Boeing 737-8 MAX, was registered as 9H-VUE with Malta Air, the Malta-registered subsidiary of the Ryanair Group; individual manufacturer serial numbers for current in-service Ryanair Group MAX 8 deliveries are assigned sequentially from Boeing's Renton production line but not consistently published for each tail. As part of Malta Air's growing MAX 8 fleet, 9H-VUE supports the Ryanair Group's expanding pan-European low-cost network, with Malta Air operating as one of several national subsidiaries maintaining operational bases and traffic rights across different European markets. Ryanair's use of multiple national subsidiaries including Malta Air, Buzz in Poland, and Lauda in Austria allows the group to navigate the European Union's complex web of bilateral air service agreements while presenting a largely unified Ryanair brand and product to passengers across the continent.

The Boeing 737 MAX is an American narrow-body aircraft series being developed by Boeing Commercial Airplanes as the fourth generation of the Boeing 737, succeeding the Boeing 737 Next Generation. The first flight was on January 29, 2016. The 737 MAX is based on earlier 737 designs but re-engined with more efficient CFM International LEAP-1B along with aerodynamic improvements, most notably split-tip winglets, and airframe modifications.
